    if everyone listens …
if everyone listens to your wisdom (the employers), it does not mean that we will all get a job for the company we are seeking to be employed, simply because there are NOT enough jobs! by chance (or luck) is how we get our jobs. even better, if you know someone who is on the inside, this greatly increases the chance of getting the job, waiving the “people skills” role.

this video is helpful, but is not suited for these tough times, its outdated.

    Good job with this …
Good job with this video. It puts a big smile on my face.

Sadly to say, my engineering school does not stress the importance of communication but so much on theory.

I wonder sometimes why some of the engineering professors I have suck at explaining things but give hard exams.

Then again, Its college. Professors aren’t paid to teach but to lecture. So I see it as a challenge.

If anyone is pursing a degree in Engineering, Does your Engineering program stress communication skills?Let me know

    oh please, this …
oh please, this video is nonsense.
FACT: 2-5% of the people working at any company carry the rest of the 95-98%.
I’ve worked on small projects (30-40 people) where boatloads of work gets done, only to have the bureaucrats take over and bloat the workforce.. (IBM & AT&T) Try this approach. Hire only the best, and pay them outlandish salaries. In the long run, you’ll save a bundle…

    Well the industry …
Well the industry ive been in for 30 years(born into it & good at it) you now need to know how to speak spanish.

So now I cant get hired because of it. That’s no lie. The first thing im asked is can you speak spanish? No. And that’s the end of it. They care not of your years of experience, knowledge, education, skills, etc.

I cant even land a management position because they want somebody who can speak both english & spanish as a tool to communicate between all the mexicans and the boss.

    In this job market, …
In this job market, the question you need to ask is:

    “Whose butt can I kiss?”

Most people are hired through personal referrals. Unless you know someone personally at the company, your chances of getting an interview are slim.

I cannot say if you …
I cannot say if you are wrong if I cannot understand what you are saying. Technical workers never have people editing their statements, and that is why they have to be able to write clearly and correctly.

Community colleges have great English programs for very little cost.

    Nobody mention to …
Nobody mention to get promoted you need to be a back stabbers. Or to get hire you need to be someones brother or son. Lots of companies want only family members or friends in the best positions. Is not what you know is who you know. You can be brilliant and get bypass. Not all companies are like google or hightech that they need to bring people from overseas. Some companies don’t even want people from different background.
I wonder how many people will agree with me.
