You’ll have other places in your application to list courses, grades, test scores, volunteer and paid experiences, extracurricular activities, awards and honors, etc. Your statement should therefore be much more than another list! The statement gives you an opportunity to integrate, describe, explain, and share the meaning you attach to your activities. There are many ways of relating who you are to your interest in becoming a health care professional. Whatever format you choose, your statement should show who you are, and how and why you’ve prepared yourself to become a member of the profession.

I have been asked to do this and it is really tough. I have achieved some new qualifications at college recently but I feel like I am boasting by writing them down, and I find it even harder to write about my personal qualities.

I had to do one to apply to university (and again when I moved) and it really is difficult. People want to say a lot about themselves but get afraid of bragging. The thing to remember is to sell yourself, convince someone why they want you. I always find it helps to be honest as well, about a mistake you’ve made and learned from that has helped to shape who you are now. It makes you more real.

Writing a personal statement is never an easy thing to do. It’s a real test of a person to write about himself. Your post is really helpful in this regard and is quite helpful for me. Thanks for a nice post.

Writing your resume well always pays off later. Thats exactly why you should put in a lot of effort to make sure it looks attractive, make different from the rest. Employers want something different..

Don’t know why writing a personal statement is such a problem but it sure is a difficult task for many people. I guess it’s always hard for us to say something reasonable about ourselves!
